Understanding hCG Levels
Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone produced during pregnancy. In early pregnancy (weeks 3-8), hCG typically doubles every 48-72 hours. After weeks 8-11, levels plateau and may decline. The doubling time is often more important than a single reading.
Important Notes
hCG ranges vary widely between pregnancies. A single reading outside the typical range doesn't necessarily indicate a problem. Always discuss your results with your healthcare provider who can interpret them in context.
