Twins and Multiples
Everything you need to know about carrying twins or multiples, from diagnosis through delivery.
Diagnosing Twins
Twins are typically confirmed by ultrasound. Higher-than-expected HCG levels may be an early indicator. Use our HCG Checker to compare your levels.
Identical vs. Fraternal
Identical (monozygotic) twins come from one fertilized egg that splits, while fraternal (dizygotic) twins come from two separate eggs. Identical twins share the same DNA; fraternal twins share about 50%.
Special Considerations
Twin pregnancies require more frequent monitoring, additional nutrition, and earlier planning for delivery. Most twins arrive between 36-38 weeks.
